Children Ministries

Kingdom Kids is the name for the varied ministries for children.  They include:

We have a wonderful nursery that is available during Sunday activities, and some Bible studies.  Our nursery workers are equipped to engage your youngster in a variety of games, toys, and videos.  Parents, or a designated adult, must sign their child in and out of the nursery.  Older siblings under the age of 19 are not permitted to sign out a child.

5What is Awana?
The name Awana is an acronym from the first letters of the phrase, "Approved workmen are not ashamed" (2 Timothy 2:15).

Founded in 1950, the Awana ministry is:

  • An international, nondenominational, Bible-centered children's and youth ministry.
  • Committed to the evangelism and discipleship of children and youth.
  • Dedicated to assisting local churches in training parents to fulfill their role as the spiritual leaders of their children.
  • Missions focused.

At the core of Awana is its weekly club programs in local churches. Children have fun playing age-appropriate games, memorizing the Bible verses in an organized, topical system and participating in large group Bible teaching.

First Christian Church's Awana clubs are for children age 3 years through sixth grade.  We meet on Wednesday nights during the school year (September through May) from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Description: CubbiesLogo_CMYK.jpgThe Cubbies update has arrived! The first year of the Cubbies update, AppleSeed, makes its debut in 2013. The second-year materials, HoneyComb, will follow in 2014. Cubbies is a two-year program for children ages 3-5 (for the two years prior to your child's entry into kindergarten). To enroll in Cubbies, your child must be at least 3 years old by September 1st. Preschoolers learn best when they are touching, hearing, seeing, saying and doing. Welcome to the fantastic and fun-filled world of Cubbies! Be ready for lots of hands-on and sensory activities that occupy Cubbies' curiosity and arouse their interest in Jesus, God and the Bible.

Description: sparks-logo-color.jpgSparks club opens up a rich world of Bible truths for curious kindergarteners and first- and second-graders. In three years, Sparkies learn about the Bible from cover to cover. The HangGlider handbook teaches Scripture from creation through Joshua. The WingRunner Handbook covers Judges through the birth of Christ. The SkyStormer handbook completes the cover-to-cover survey of the Bible with lessons on Christ through Revelation. Three parent handbooks are available to inspire moms and dads to get active in their child's club work and home discipleship as they gain a deeper understanding of the Bible biographies Sparkies learn in club and share those insights with them.

Description: tt-logo-color.jpgTruth & Training™ teaches kids the truth of God's Word and trains them to follow God and practice His grace.  T&T will provide your children with a personalized experience that engages them on their level and keeps them coming back! T&T is divided into two clubs.

Description: UltAdventure-color.jpgThird- and fourth-graders learn in Awana that following Christ is the ultimate adventure! In the first two years of T&T, your children will also hear about the trustworthiness of Scripture and have many of their questions answered about God. Ultimate Adventure clubbers have their very own uniforms and awards; soon, they'll be ready to take on the Ultimate Challenge!

Fifth- and sixth-graders in T&T get answers to more of their questions about the Bible so they'll be prepared to walk faithfully with God through any challenge. As T&T upperclassmen, clubbers in Ultimate Challenge have their own unique handbooks, cool jersey-style uniforms and awards. In-depth Bible studies, life-changing serving opportunities and more will spiritually strengthen clubbers for the middle school years.

The first Awana Olympics (now AwanaGames) took place in 1955, in the basement of the Northside Gospel Center, with kids from four churches competing. This year, hundreds of AwanaGames and Sparks-A-Rama meets will be held around the globe. The AwanaGames (3rd-6th) and Sparks-A-Rama (K-2nd) are wonderful opportunities to get your children involved in a healthy and fun team athletic competition. The unique games are designed so that every child — regardless of size or athletic ability — can contribute to the team effort.

Description: sparks-a-rama-logo-color.jpgSparks-A-Rama is similar to an AwanaGames meet, but different — it's a day of exciting participation with new friends, not a high pressure competition. Playing the games just for the fun of playing them is emphasized. All participants receive awards, and those who finish first on each circle are awarded the Awana Games banner or the Sparks-A-Rama plaque.

The first Bible Quizzing competition took place in Chicago in 1957. Quiz meets now take place worldwide. The Awana Bible Jamboree (where our Awana clubs get together for Bible quizzing) gives your child(ren) the opportunity to display their Bible knowledge in a competitive but positive atmosphere. Awana Bible quizzing represents the essence of Awana — young people hiding God's Word in their hearts (see Psalm 119:9-11). That "one more" verse memorized can have an impact on a child's life! Don't let them miss out on this wonderful experience.
